Sikkim Announced The Cleanest State !!!


In a nationwide cleanliness survey of rural India Sikkim has been ranked one of the cleanliest state. On one hand where states like Kerala, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh and Nagaland ranks 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th in the ranking respectively. On the other hand states like Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand in the ranking were among the worst performers.
On Thursday National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) these stats were made public by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitization. Based on the percentage of household that has access to sanitary toilets the Swachh Survekshan 2016 ranked 26 states.
The NSSO findings according to the ministry are however one year old and in the interim states like UP and Madhya Pradesh have improved a lot in terms of cleanliness.
The Quality Council of India carried out a separate survey which was included by Swachh Survekshan 2016, it also offered ranking to another 75 performing districts, since the launch of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan of the government in October 2014 over 70,000 households have adopted this.
There are total 75 districts out of which 75 districts, 22 are located in hilly areas, 53 are located in the plains. Out of the 22 which are located in the hilly areas Mandi in Himachal Pradesh is the cleanest, whereas Sindhudur and Satara district of Maharashtra and last but not the least West Bengal is counted in the in the top three of the 53 districts.
