The Indian Armed Forces, soldiers from the Assam Rifles regiment of the Indian Army have yet again showed their determination and hard work that they put in to serve the country. The soldiers successfully pulled out an elderly woman stuck under debris for almost two days!

This incident took place in Pithoragarh district, the place which received the worst of Uttarakhand cloudburst. The lady who is from Bastadi village in Pithoragarh was stuck in the debris of her home for two long days,  all thanks to the Army Jawans who pulled her out of the debris safe and alive. She was immediately taken to the hospital to get her check up done. District Management officer RS Rana said.

The incident was also captured on video and posted on the Army’s Facebook page. It went viral within hours, receiving more than 213,000 views by late Sunday evening. It shows a group of Jawans locating the woman and pulling her out safely, and carrying her out safely in between the loud cheers by several people gathered there everyone praying for the women’s safety. Their prayers paid off and she was alright despite of being stuck for two days under the debris of her house.

NDRF, along with the Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police are conducting rescue operations across the state. Officials recorded more than 100 mm of rain in less than two days, leading to widespread floods across Uttarakhand.

Several regions, including seven hill-districts in Garhwal and Kumaon, have been put on alert.

It is because of our Jawans who even risk their lives to save the people who get stuck in such life taking calamities. These Jawans don’t think about themselves that while saving others they might have to loose their lives and save others.  The Jawans of our nation are the true Heroes of the country.
